Selangor, Negeri Sembilan collaborate to grow grain maize

SHAH ALAM, May 18 — The state government through the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan (Incorporated) (MBINS) to collaborate on growing grain maize.

The signing ceremony was held between PKPS chief executive officer Mohamad Khairul Mohamad Razi and MBINS managing director Datuk Mohd Khidir Majid.

It was witnessed by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun at Wisma PKPS in Section 14, here today.

Also present during the event were state executive councillor for agricultural Izham Hashim and Negeri Sembilan Agriculture and Agro-based Industry action committee chairman Datuk Bakri Sawir.

In his speech Amirudin said he hopes the collaboration between both states can help resolve the issue of increasing chicken feed price, thus reducing dependence on imported grain maize.

“InsyaAllah, this effort will be continued and we pray for something beneficial for the people coming out of it.

“We will strive to make Selangor a resilient state in terms of food supply since we are the biggest contributor to the country’s Gross Domestic Product,” he said.
