JobCare career fair helps over 600 individuals secure jobs

SHAH ALAM, June 14 — A total of 641 participants have been offered employment so far during Jelajah JobCare (JobCare) seven series of tours, says Selangor Workers’ Empowerment Unit (UPPS) chief coordinator S Vijayan.

He said the figure has exceeded its initial target of 500 individuals with another two more tour series to go.

Vijayan informed that the majority of the individuals have started their new work at companies in manufacturing, port services, logistics and delivery service.

“We have toured eight locations to provide job opportunities to the people, especially to those who had lost their livelihood due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“However this figure does not include numbers from our latest tour in Tanjong Karang last week,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.

He said the next tours are scheduled to take place at Dewan Banting Baru in Kuala Langat on June 18, followed by Dewan Sri Bernam in Sabak Bernam on June 25.

“Therefore, I encourage the public, especially those staying around the locations to take advantage of this opportunity to find jobs,” he said.

The JobCare Tour is an initiative of the Selangor Government to help low, medium and high-skilled people who lost their income due to the pandemic to get jobs.

The program in collaboration with the Social Security Organisation (Socso) was joined by 15 local companies and offered nearly 3,000 job opportunities in various sectors.
