Roslan Ariffin appointed new Bernama CEO

KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 — Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) acting chief executive officer Roslan Ariffin has been appointed as the chief executive offiver of the news agency, effective today.

His appointment was announced by Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa in a statement today.

“I am confident that with his expertise and knowledge, this appointment will continue to drive excellence and give a new boost to Bernama, especially in leading the journalism industry in the country,” he said.

Roslan, 56, succeeded Datuk Mokhtar Hussain, whose contract expired on February 19 this year.

Roslan, who holds a degree in communications from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), began his career in Bernama as a journalist in 1990 and was made acting CEO on March 21 this year.

Roslan possesses wide experience and held various key posts in Bernama, including bureau chief, head of programme BernamaTV, executive editor, and head of broadcasting (TV and Radio) before he was appointed as deputy editor-in-chief, business and finance.

Apart from this, he was also seconded to the Department of Broadcasting, Malaysia (RTM) for four years from 2008 to 2012, including as chief reporter, chief editor and deputy director of the current affairs section.
