MB: Education helps shape character, create mature mind

GOMBAK, Aug 1 — Education is equally important in shaping the character and mind of individuals as it is not just for getting jobs.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said knowledge is important in creating better individuals.

“There is a need to emphasise the importance of education in shaping the character to create a healthy and mature thinking individual. It will also help the person find the right career and have a better future,” he said during the Selangor Penyayang Roadshow here yesterday.

Commenting on the financial difficulties that resulted in many not continuing their studies, he said the country has provided sufficient education support to help low-income families.

“What needs to be changed is the mentality of the individuals and their families to have the desire to change their future,” he said.

Selangor has outlined eight incentives under the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang initiative to empower the education sector from the early childhood stage including the Skim Bantuan Tadika Selangor.

Other incentives are the Skim Bantuan Asuhan Anakku Pintar (Asuh Pintar), Skim Pinjaman Teknologi Asas Selangor, Selangor People’s Tutoring Programme (PTRS), Iltizam Mahasiswa Selangor, Peduli Siswa, Inisiatif Kemahiran Teknikal, Ikhtisas Smart Selangor and Selangor School Aid.
