Two Selangor districts to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain until evening

SHAH ALAM, Aug 31 — Two districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains until 5pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a statement issued at 2pm on Facebook, it said the districts include Petaling and Klang.

The agency also predicted bad weather in several districts within Perak (Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron and Raub), Sarawak: Sibu (Selangau), Mukah (Mukah), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang, and Sabah: Pedalaman (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu and Beaufort), Pantai Barat (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud), Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan) and Kudat.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
