KUALA LANGAT, Sept 3 — The Morib state constituency is organising the Selangor Agro Market Jawafest 2022, to alleviate the burden of its residents’ expenses to purchase daily necessities.

Its state assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin said the programme, running from 9am to 6pm, sells wet items and dry foods including chicken, beef, eggs, vegetables and fruits, at lower prices than the market.

“The price of a kg of chicken in the market is RM9.40, but it is sold for RM8 here. The same goes for meat at RM35 per kg compared to RM39 elsewhere, while eggs are sold at RM12 per tray.

“The event has a Javanese theme as we wish to introduce this culture on a wider scale. So alongside wet goods, we also sell traditional Javanese food such as nasi ambeng and ungkep,” he said at the market in Dewan Orang Ramai Taman Sri Putra, Kuala Langat.

Hasnul added the programme, in collaboration with the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama), sees the participation of 30 traders and will be held in several other locations after this.

“This is the second time the market has been held, after the first at Kanchong Darat last month. Both these events have been met with encouraging responses.

“It is clear the community requires assistance such as this. The programme is greatly beneficial to the populace, especially when concerns price increases,” he said.
