Showers in six Selangor districts until noon — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, Sept 9 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecasted heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms for over half of Selangor’s districts.

In a statement issued at 9am, it said the districts include Kuala Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang.

“Other states and territories which will be affected include Melaka, Terengganu (Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu and Marang) and Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson and Rembau).

“Also affected is Johor (Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Pontian and Johor Bahru) and
Sarawak (Kuching, Serian, Samarahan and Sri Aman.

The weather is expected to persist until 12pm.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
