PETALING JAYA, Sept 13 — The Sungai Rasau Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Klang, expected to be completed in 2025, will be able to mitigate the risks of water supply disruption in the future.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the WTP was built with a more systematic ecosystem to allow sufficient reserves of water supply, regardless of any issues, including pollution.
“In the event of disruptions to one water resource, the other plant can help with water supply.
“Currently (water resources) utilise a one-way process, which means whenever one plant is forced to halt operations, it can affect thousands of consumers.
“Once the Sungai Rasau WTP is completed with a new system and methods, it will help to solve this problem, subsequently reducing the number of affected consumers,” he said after launching the Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) coffee table book, here today.
Held at the One Utama Shopping Complex earlier today, the launching ceremony was also joined by Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Datuk Mansor Othman, and Air Selangor chief executive officer Suhaimi Kamaralzaman.
In August, Air Selangor operations head Abas Abdullah said the Sungai Rasau WTP was built using the Off-River Storage (ORS) involving a total allocation of RM3 billion and could produce up to 1,400 litres of water daily.
The same method also applies to three other WTPs namely Semenyih 2, Labohan Dagang and Sungai Labu.
