BANGKOK, Sept 23 — Travellers to Thailand will no longer require proof of vaccination to enter the kingdom starting next month.
Besides that, visitors to the kingdom no longer need to provide rapid Covid-19 test results upon arrival, among the steps taken in easing Covid-19 restrictions, as well as promoting travel and business.
Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) spokesman, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin said as the Covid-19 situation continues to improve, the nationwide state of emergency which has been in place since March 24, 2020, to curb the Covid-19 outbreak, will expire on September 30.
He said Covid-19 patients with no or mild symptoms need not undergo isolation.
“Covid-19 will be downgraded from a dangerous communicable disease to communicable disease under surveillance” starting October 1,” Dr Taweesin said at a press conference.
He added that CCSA itself will be dissolved and cease its role in containing Covid-19.
Thailand is targeting at least 10 million foreign tourists by the end of this year, with 1.5 million foreign tourists from October to December.
Over the last 24 hours, Thailand recorded 752 Covid-19 cases and nine fatalities, bringing the total infections in the kingdom to 4,677,090 and 32,692 deaths.
