SHAH ALAM, Oct 12 — Drainage cleanups and clearing of bulk garbage by KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) is carried out consistently on schedule, to ensure the drainage system is not blocked and to prevent the risk of flooding.
Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said drain clearage is scheduled bimonthly for all housing areas, and KDEBWM is always ready to resolve any complaints with priority given to critical areas.
“When there are many complaints KDEBWM will resolve the issues plaguing critical areas first, and continue carrying out drainage cleanup works according to the usual schedule,” he said when contacted.
Previously, KDEBWM stated it has identified over 50 areas across Selangor at risk of flooding when continuous heavy rains occur.
All the areas are classified as hotspots due to their proximity to rivers and their low-lying topography.
The state’s solid waste management and public cleaning services company has also put on standby over 1,800 personnel to face the possibility of flooding at the end of the year.
