Dignify state identity, enhance cultural programmes — Exco

SEPANG, Nov 28 — The RM1.5 million allocation in the 2023 Selangor Budget will be utilised for cultural and artistic programmes that raise Selangor’s dignity and identity as a state.

State executive councillor of culture Borhan Aman Shah said several large-scale programmes are being formulated to ensure that Selangor’s heritage is not forgotten, especially among the younger generations.

“For example, we will continue the nasi ambeng fiesta, lest it is lost to the passage of time, and we want this record to continue to be realised. We also planned a few more big programmes for next year.

“With the provided allocation, I will empower not just culinary practices but other elements including equipment, culture, and so on,” he said.

Borhan was speaking at the Malaysia Book of Records event at Pantai Bagan Lalang yesterday, where he received a recognition certificate for the state government’s success in organising the largest nasi ambeng fiesta in the country, with 2,022 trays of the dish prepared.

During the tabling of the budget, themed ‘#KitaSelangor: Boosting Progress, Strengthening Unity, Fulfilling Hope‘ on Friday (November 25), Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the RM1.5 million allocation was provided to organise several key programmes on the state level.

These include international keroncong, the nasi ambeng festival, the Konsert Rentak Selangor featuring local cultural artists and celebrities, in an atmosphere celebrating the diversity of the state.
