SHAH ALAM, Dec 29 — PJ City Bus passengers must scan the QR code to use the public transportation starting next month, said the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).

The local authority said riders need to scan the code when entering the bus, as well as before getting.

“Non-Malaysian users will be charged RM0.90 from January 15, 2023, onwards” it said in a Facebook post today.

The post also had a guide showing how to scan the QR code for user convenience.

MBPJ added that seniors without smartphones and students clad in school uniforms are not required to scan the QR code.

Otherwise, passengers must download the Citizen E-Payment Platform (CEPat) app, to use the Scan To Ride system.

During the tabling of the 2023 Selangor Budget on November 25, the state government allocated RM25 million to strengthen public transportation under the Selangor Mobility initiative.

Of this figure, RM22 million was provided to 11 local authorities to continue the implementation of the Selangor Smart Bus programme.
