PETALING JAYA, Jan 8 —The opening of the bookstore owned by the Inisiatif Buku Darul Ehsan (IBDE) will serve to promote the culture of reading in society, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the Kedai Buku Rencana bookstore in Sri Damansara can also develop the community’s understanding through the sale of translated international works.

“This initiative by IBDE is a healthy development, which simultaneously provides excellent coverage to several published works.

“Hopefully this opening will streamline and encourage reading culture. IBDE publishes many books and was formerly only active during book fairs, yet has managed to received many responses,” Amirudin said during the store’s launching ceremony yesterday.

Expressing interest in several titles including Muhammad: Riwayat Hidup Berdasarkan Sumber Terawal and Melayu Agung Jose Rizal, the Menteri Besar said the state government will continue several more translation projects for international manuscripts throughout this year.
