Over 7,000 tonnes of waste collected during first two days of Aidilfitri — KDEBWM

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, April 26 — State-owned waste management company KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) said it collected approximately 7,643.15 tonnes of domestic waste during the first two days of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

Its managing director Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir said this was a decrease when compared to the same period last year, which recorded close to 10,000 tonnes of waste collected.

“The waste generation during Aidilfitri this year has dropped, as many Selangor residents returned to their respective hometowns or villages, due to the long holiday period and free tolls.

“In spite of the lower number of residents in the state during this period, KDEBWM has maintained its collection responsibilities, working every day throughout the year,” he said to SelangorKini.

Prior to the Aidilfitri celebrations, which fell on April 22 and April 23 this year, the company conducted its usual festive bulk waste collection rounds, particularly in locations and residential areas where Muslims are a majority.
