Jakim to co-organise special forum from Istana Negara tomorrow

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 10 — The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) and Istana Negara will be organising a special forum, dubbed Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam Diraja, which will discuss the topic of Institusi Diraja Penyatuan Ummah (Royal Institution Unifying Ummah) at Istana Negara tomorrow.

The 90-minute forum will be broadcast live on RTM’s TV1 channel at 9pm.

Jakim director-general Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusoff in a statement today said Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Alhaj and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah have also agreed to attend the forum.

With Ustaz Zakaria Othman from Jakim as the moderator, the forum will feature three panellists namely Deputy Mufti of Pahang Datuk Badli Shah Alaudin, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) lecturer Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Izhar Ariff Mohd Kashim and Universiti Malaya (UM) lecturer Assoc Prof Dr Sharifah Hayaati Syed Ismail.

Hakimah said the forum aims, among others, to enhance and enrich public understanding that the royal institution is a symbol of unifying the ummah (people) among diverse and varied communities under the spirit and second principle of Rukun Negara namely “Loyalty to the King and Country”.
