SHAH ALAM, March 28 — 22 companies will set up job offer counters at multinational tyre manufacturer Goodyear’s factory in Shah Alam from April 22 to April 26 to recruit new workers.

State executive councillor for human resources V. Papparaidu said this is aimed at assisting employees in finding new opportunities following the factory’s closure on June 30, after over 40 years of operation.

“This is a commendable initiative where Goodyear employees will be offered new jobs based on their experience,” he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (March 26).

The Selangor Social Security Organisation will also ensure the company’s employees are registered under the MyFutureJobs programme and Insured Persons so as to be matched with suitable job vacancies.

On March 7, Goodyear announced its decision to close its manufacturing plant, affecting some 550 employees.

Its Asia Pacific region president Nathaniel Madarang said the closure is part of the company’s transformation plan to optimise its production and portfolio.
