SHAH ALAM, SEP 26: Tourism Selangor has come forward with its Discover Selangor 2016 Campaign in conjunction with Visit Selangor Year 2016.
General Manager Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din said the campaign with the tagline ‘Heart of Malaysia’ is part of the effort to promote Selangor globally.
“This campaign will focus on Selangor’s strength in lifestyle spots, business opportunities, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, Exhibitions) service sector, sports and health.
“We also have prepared some interesting activities in conjunction with Discover Selangor including the International Indigenous Arts Festival and Bon Odori Festival,” she said in a statement.
On September 22, Ashikin attended the JATA Tourism Expo 2016 that took place at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo, Japan.
The expo brought together various participants from travel agencies, government agencies, hoteliers, and operators of health and education centres.
Ashikin said there was a 9.7% increase in Japanese tourists to Selangor in the first six months of this year compared to the same period in 2015.
“Selangor’s tourism industry has great potential that can be explored, especially by our partners in Japan.
“We always support local players’ efforts to produce tourism products, including eco-tourism, agro-tourism, homestays as well as heritage and culture,” she said.
