SEMENYIH, OCT 4: An factory operating illegally was raided by the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) after it was determined to be the source of the recent water pollution.
MPKj Yang Dipertua Mohd Sayuthi Bakar said that the owner was fined immediately and all operational equipment was seized to be destroyed.
“The raid and seizure were made so that the unlicensed company cannot operate and that this area would be closed under the council’s jurisdiction.
“For the process of destroying the seized items, the Department of Environment will handle the operation in the right manner.
“We have also issued summons so that the owner will be brought to justice,” he told SelangorKini.

He said this at the site after making a joint raid with Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS), Department of Environment, District Land Office, and Air Selangor.
The owner of the factory and workers were not at the premises when the raid occurred as they were believed to have run away to avoid being arrested by the authorities.
Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali also came personally to monitor the progress after investigations were made since 1 am.
Mohamed Azmin ordered the factory’s operation to be halted immediately to ensure that water supply remained uninterrupted.
“The state government will not cooperate with any individual or company that sabotages or pollutes rivers,” he said through his Twitter account.
The state government previously closed the water treatment plant in Semenyih after pollution occurred, disrupting water supply to residents around Semenyih.
The water disruption was solved in less than 48 hours due to the commitment and initiative of the state government agencies.
