MPKj identifies 31 illegal factories

SHAH ALAM, NOV 28:  The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) took action on at least 31 factories operating illegally at Semenyih River.
Local Government, New Village Development and Illegal Factory Legalisation Exco Ean Yong Hian Wah said based on enumeration records, there are 58 factories along the river.
He said 27 factories are located in the industrial zone, while 31 are located outside the industrial zone.

“MPKj found that out of the 31 factories, five were built on the river reserve land. Another four were built on government land and one more on private land.
“MPKj has completed investigations on the unauthorised factories and will charge them in court,” he said.
He added that MPKj will also cooperate with the Hulu Langat District Office to demolish the five factories built on reserve land.
Meanwhile, MPKj Yang Dipertua Mohd Sayuthi Bakar said that MPKj is committed in addressing this issue.
“Besides demolition and prosecution in court, MPKj will periodically monitor the area along the river,” he said.
