Four million consumers in Lembah Klang affected by water disruption

SHAH ALAM, DEC 16: “Residents in Lembah Klang, amounting to 3,892,641 water consumers will be experiencing water disruption beginning December 19,” said National Water Services Commission (SPAN) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Ridhuan Ismail.

He said the number involves 707,759 accounts in 814 areas, namely Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Langat, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
According to him, water supply will be shut down temporarily for electrical supply system upgrading works by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) at the Bukit Badong Main Substation, Hulu Selangor.
“The TNB works will start from 8 am until 12 pm and will take 16 hours. It will affect the Sungai Selangor water treatment plant operation, which supplies water to 60% of Lembah Klang consumers,” he said in a statement.
Nevertheless, he said water supply will be restored gradually after the maintenance work is completed.
Residence are advised to make the necessary preparations to facilitate their daily activities.
