Residents to take precaution against sinking soil

SHAH ALAM, DEC 28: Residents of Jalan Raja Abdullah, Section 9, are advised to be cautious as the soil in that residential area has been found to have sunk-in extensively, on December 27.
Selangor Special Tactical Operations Rescue Malaysia (STORM) Unit Chief Operating Officer Mohd Saiful Munir Mohd Isa said residents in the area must be careful incase of a second landslide.
“Based on observations, the sinking has caused the ground at the edge of the houses to crack and collapse.
“However, the nearby road is still safe for use and the authorities have been informed of the incident,” he said when visiting the site.
He said the road has been partly closed with safety cones used as a warning sign to the public.
“I hope residents do not remove the cones for the safety of other road users and will contact the authorities in the event of a landslide,” he said.
The soil which sank, has caused the hillside near the houses to collapse and has obstructed a part of the road.
It was understood that the landslide at the beginning of the month, was a result of water retention in underground, but to date, it has not caused any casualties.
