KLANG, DEC 12: In conjunction with His Majesty’s 71st birthday, His Royal Highness Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah attended a royal tea ceremony in Padang Mahkota Istana Alam Shah, Klang.
He graced the event by cutting the ‘pulut kuning’ (yellow glutinous rice), witnessed by Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, His Highness Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah and other royalties.
His Majesty then signed his acceptance of the birthday presents, which included potteries from the Selangor Menteri Besar and Treasury Office, and a replica of the Istana Darul Ehsan from Invest Selangor.
Besides that, he also received a special gift of a Lambretta Classic Motorcycle from District Officers, Yang Dipertua of Districts and Orang Besar Daerah of Selangor.
Approximately 3,000 people attended including Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, State Government Secretary (SUK) Dato’ Mohd Amin Ahya and other state leaders.
The ceremony also included cultural performances and ‘tarian menjunjung duli’ performed by the Malay Tradition and Heritage Corporation (PADAT).
Amin Yahya said that the tea ceremony is a sign of his majesty’s love to citizens of the nine districts that were invited to the ceremony.
“His sensitivity to citizens’ welfare, giving his views and constructive criticism to leaders, especially on development issues, always touch the people’s hearts,” he said in his speech at the Majlis Jamuan Teh Diraja in Padang Mahkota Istana Alam Shah, Klang on December 11.
