SHAH ALAM, FEB 13: The Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS) is actively repairing its drainage system, particularly around the city centre.
MDKS Yang Dipertua, Mohd Azhar Mohamed Ali said, the step is taken as a preparation in case of flood, as rainfall has been quite high lately.
He said, immediate action is taken to prevent residents and businesses from incurring big losses should a continuous-raining phenomenon happens.
“Especially when the drain is right next to the Federal Route 5 which is the main access for road users going to north Selangor,” he said.
Earlier, MDKS’s routine inspection found damages in the monsoon drains at Jalan Bendahara 1 and Jalan Bendahara 1/1, Taman Bendahara, Kuala Selangor.
Mohd Azhar said, the scope of the repair work is along 200 metres and it is feared that water will not flow smoothly if it is not addressed immediately.
He said the work is expected to be completed by this February 16.
“MDKS is aware of traffic congestion in the area during peak-hours.
“The public is advised to be extra careful when passing through this route to avoid any unwanted incidence,” he said.
The community is encouraged to lodge any complaint online through the SPARKS application which can be downloaded for free from Play Store and App Store.
