Free Market latest attraction for 3K Sepang carnival

SEPANG, APR 19: Karnival Kampungku Kesayanganku (3K) Sepang created a difference by organising a ‘Free Market’ to distribute basic food items.
Islamic Religious Affairs, Malay Customs & Heritage, Rural & Traditional Villages Development Exco, Dato’ Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi said it was a good initiative and an additional value to the programme content.
“I view the ‘Free Market’ as an alternative to making mosques as a one-stop centre for community activities, meeting the 3K programme objectives which among others is to emphasize the place of worship to drive welfare and community activities,” he said.
The 3K programme in Sepang was held in the Meranti Mosque, Kampung Pulau Meranti last April 14 and 15 with the ‘Free Market’ as a new activity targeting to distribute basic food items like rice, vegetables, cooking oil and clothes.
The total value of all items was RM10,000, contributed by the parishioners and local donors. 100 poor people received three basic food items.
Ahmad Yunus said he welcomes the creativity and hopes the Free Market can become an additional programme for 3K carnival in every district.
Besides that, he said the State Government is grateful for all the planning done by the organisers, PAID Sepang, Sepang Land and District Office as well as other agencies who helped to make the programme a success.
