MPAJ studying biological method to deter Aedes

AMPANG, APR 6: Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) is studying a biological method using Aedes mosquitoes injected with wolbachia bacteria to control dengue cases in its municipality.
Its Yang Dipertua, Abd Hamid Hussain said that is an alternative method for MPAJ besides using conventional methods such as fogging and gotong-royong to clean-up surrounding areas.
“Up to last March 25, there have been 992 dengue cases with three deaths recorded by MPAJ.
“However, the that number is much lower than last year’s record for the same period which was 2,105,” he said.
He said, MPAJ has also identified areas to focus on this such as Pandan Indah, Taman Cahaya, Bandar Baru Ampang, Taman Melawati 1, Taman Ukay Bistari and Pandan Perdana at Jalan Perdana 6/2 to 6/10.
