MB welcomes police and local authorities’ cooperation over misuse of entertainment licenses

SHAH ALAM, MAY 28: The State Government welcomed cooperation from the police and local authorities’ cooperation to fight illegal activities at entertainment outlets in Selangor.
Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said cooperation from all parties, especially the police, is important in this issue to ensure the safety and prosperity of the public in the state.
“The state government is of the stand that any unsavoury activities should not only be stopped but also enforced by all parties.
“This is why police involvement is important because the local municipalities’ authority in this matter is very limited,” he told media recently.
He was commenting on the Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar’s statement that urged state governments and local councils to stop issuing family entertainment licenses as they were misused for gambling purposes.
As such, he said, the State Government will consider from the legal aspect regarding this issue for further action.
“We will review the necessary acts and laws as well as the parties issuing the licenses and also enforcement.
“What is important is that there must be cooperation between all parties, namely the state government, the local municipalities and the police,” he said.
