Smart Selangor Free Wifi service to expand to 4,100 hotspots

KAJANG, MAY 24: The State Government targets to expand the Smart Selangor Free Wifi service to 4,100 hotspots with wider coverage in all districts and State Legislative Assembly (DUN) areas by this year.
Education, Human Capital Development, Science, Technology and Innovation Exco, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said, the wifi will be installed with greater speed and accessibility.
“We select highly populated areas, public areas, shopping centres and areas with many students from higher educational institutions (IPT).
“We will also focus on rural areas so that it can become an effective communication channel between citizens and the State Government,” he said during a press conference.
He was speaking at the #SmartSelangor 2017 WiFi Lauching Ceremony DUN Kajang at Apartment Sri Ros, Kajang today.
Wifi #SmartSelangor is a free Wifi service provided by the State Government to the public at over 3,000 hotspots in the State.
This ‘peduli rakyat’ initiative is to close the digital gap and raise the communities’ standard of living.
