Four companies contributed RM11.7 million in zakat

SHAH ALAM, JUNE 16: His Royal Highness the Selangor Sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah received a total of RM11.7 million in business zakat, paid by four companies.
In a Break Fast Ceremony with the people at the Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque, four companies including Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia (Bank Rakyat), represented by its Chairman, Tan Sri Shukry Mohd Salleh, handed over RM4.7 million.
This was followed by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) represented by its State General Manager, Dato’ Mohd Zahir Md Nor with RM2.9 million.

Besides that, RM2.5 million was paid by Selangor Mentri Besar Incorporated (MBI) represented by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Raja Shahren Raja Othman
Meanwhile Seriemas Development Sdn Bhd which was represented by its CEO Mohd Salem Kailany paid RM1.6 million in business zakat.
Sultan Sharafuddin also presented Aidilfitri aid of RM500 each to 252 poor asnaf (deserving zakat recipients) and 120 Muslim convert asnaf.
His Majesty was accompanied by Selangor Islamic Religious Council Chairman, Dato’ Setia Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa and Dato’ Seri Utama Diraja Mufti negeri, Dato’ Setia Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid.
Also present was Selangor Islamic Religious Department Director, Dato’ Haris Kasim.
