SHAH ALAM, AUG 16: The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) had provided a platform for schoolchildren to jointly contribute ideas for i-Play Park Damansara Damai.
Petaling Jaya Mayor, Dato’ Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain said, primary and secondary school students were entrusted to design and be directly involved in the park construction and maintenance.
“Eventually the concept that they produced was different than a park usually built by councils.
“Through this project, they created a park complete with an outdoor classroom that features the learn-and-play concept consisting of i-Fun, i-Ranger, i-Grow and i-Green components,” he said in his welcome speech during the Selangor State Departments Monthly Meeting recently.
Azizi said, i-Play Park Damansara Damai and another initiative, PJ City Food Bank had attracted the interest of Korea and China.
“Both countries have decided to send their employees to MBPJ to learn how we implemented both initiatives,” he said.
PJ City Food Bank is one of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme under PJ Kita which was created since 2012.
It is a food distribution programme to orphanages, old-folks’ homes, homes for the handicapped and poor. Food is distributed thrice weekly.
PJ City Food Bank has the support of popular brands such as Tesco, Dutch Lady, Nestle and received RM1.5 million from Bank Rakyat.
