Green Hut project for MPAJ’s sustainability

BY ERMIZI MUHAMAD
SHAH ALAM, OCT 18: The Green Hut project in Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) can create a green-sustainability practice in the area.
Its Yang Dipertua, Abdul Hamid Hussein said, it can positively affect waste management in strata housing.
He added that the project will also allow for mismanaged and non-ecofriendly waste disposal areas to be managed effectively.
“The quality of cleanliness and unmanaged domestic waste in a strata compound can cause odor pollution and indirectly result to environmental pollution.
“Garbage and solid waste that are not segregated by type will hamper and delay waste collection process.
“Furthermore, unrecycled waste will prolong its decomposition process especially for plastic and aluminum.
“Those are the reason we are implementing this system to improvise solid waste management in MPAJ,” he said to SelangorKini.
He said, MPAJ introduced the Green Hut project in line with the green township policy introduced by the State Government, to create a comprehensive and cost-effective waste management focusing on the 3R (Reduce, Reuse dan Recycle).
“This project is a collaboration between COB and Nusa Kurni Apartments Joint-management Body (JMB).
“It is created to provide awareness on recycling and educate the residents to segregate waste by providing dedicated spaces for domestic and recycle waste.
“This is consistent with COB’s function to ensure strata development areas are well managed and maintained as well as meeting the existing laws,” he said.
