MB: Penang and Johor complementarily boost country’s economy

SHAH ALAM, OCT 12: The State Government does not see other states’ progress as competition to Selangor.
Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said, countries like Penang and Johor in fact help and complement Selangor to boost its development.
He said, progress in those countries should be embraced as it gives a direct impact to the country’s economic growth and citizens’ well-being.
“I don’t see Penang and Johor as competition but as an effort to help and complement each other.

“The most progressed state in Malaysia including these two states will surely benefit the country and citizens as a whole,” he said to SelangorKini.
He was met right after welcoming the United Kingdom Mega Technology Mission to Malaysia, at the Istana Selangor last October 10.
In 2016, Selangor was one step below Johor in number of investment.
Based on the number of approved projects, Selangor however remained at the top with 242 projects followed by Johor with 165 projects.
For the record, until 2016, there were a total of 4,713 industrial projects approved in Selangor with investment worth RM136 billion.
A total of RM70.3 billion from that amount were local investment while the balance of RM65.7 billion were from foreign investment.
The excellent growth has put Selangor in second place after Johor, which acquired RM166 billion investment in the same period.
That was followed by Sarawak with investment value of RM101 billion, Penang (RM88.6 bilion) and Kedah (RM58 bilion).
