Interim Coach – Terengganu FC Win Over KL is Significant

KUALA TERENGGANU – Terengganu FC interim coach Nafuzi Zain sees his team’s 3-1 victory over Kuala Lumpur in the Malaysia Super League last night as a significant win at a time when the team is up against suspensions and injuries to six major players.

Nafuzi said he is extremely pleased with the commitment of all the players, particularly in the defence where the local players reigned supreme, such as Amirzafran Wan Nadris, Muhamad Mohd Faudzi, Adib Aizudin Ab Latif and Hafizal Mohamad who is on loan from the TFC II feeder club.

The absence of the import defence players put great pressure on the team in the early stages of the match but the players gifted the team with three goals, one of which came through a penalty, he said.

“I thank all the players who went all-out to clinch the three points. The defence did well, unlike in the past where we let in goals from set pieces,” he told reporters after the match at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium here.

Nafuzi described the win as a morale booster for him to continue to improve the team.

He said he did not have enough time for much planning or changes as he had taken charge for just over a month from his former chief coach Irfan Bakti Abu Salim who resigned over the dismal performance of the Turtles.
