MB Orders for Investigation for the Cause of Sungai Semenyih Pollution

SHAH ALAM – Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari ordered out a quick investigation to determine the cause of pollution in Sungai Semenyih.

He said urgent measures should be taken to stop the pollution and restore the water source.

“I have instructed further investigations to be carried out to identify the cause,” he wrote through twitter on 26 June.

Earlier, Selangor Water Supply Company Sdn Bhd (SYABAS), a member of the Air Selangor group, informed that there was a contaminating odor in Sungai Semenyih, which is the raw water source for Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (LRA Sungai Semenyih).

Because of this, the plant was forced to stop and caused water supply around some areas in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang regions to be disrupted and to have low pressure from 9 pm on 26 June.

The public can get the latest information and list of affected areas through the Air Selangor mobile app and www.syabas.com.my website.
