20 Selangor Entrepreneurs Join Malaysia Fest 2019 in Singapore


SHAH ALAM – A total of 20 Selangor entrepreneurs were elected to join the Malaysia Fest 2019 Expo which is taking place in Singapore beginning 25 July.

Ir Izham Hashim, EXCO of Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Modernization of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, said the entrepreneurs will be highlighting products such as cosmetics, food, beverages and handicraft products involving 150 SKU (stock keeping units) with an estimated sales of RM 400,000.

He said the fourth edition of the expo is the stepping stones for businesses and will help in giving entrepreneurs the opportunity to explore and promote state-owned products to the international market.

“A total of 10 booths will be placed in conjunction with the expo, which is conceptualized by the Selangor Pavilion and features the Selangor landmark gate in the sales hall,” he said.

“A total of 50 entrepreneurs are unable to attend but their products were brought in through appointed agents,” he added.

“Of the 150 SKUs, 80 SKU products are from ‘My Kampung My Future’ (MKMF) which is from 16 villages nationwide,” he said when met after flagging off Selangor products to Malaysia Fest 2019, at Wisma PKPS, here.

Also present were the Chairman of FAMA, Sr. Ishak Ismail; FAMA Acting Director, Zainal Abidin Yang Razali and Selangor FAMA Director, Dato’ Abd Ghariff Ramin.

Izham said the state government also brought in a big fruit industry player, MBG Fruit Shop, which had 120 outlets in the Klang Valley to the expo.

“At the same time, collaboration with Perdasama NGOs will also bring a variety of agro-based industry-processed products to be offered to expo visitors,” he stated.

Last year, a total of 18 entrepreneurs of agro-based industry with 72 SKUs were brought to the expo with five sales outlets bringing a return to RM 150,000 during the four-day expo.

Among the products to be featured in the Pavilion of Selangor is the ‘Signature Selangor’ product, Kanchong Darat Coffee (KDC).

KDC also introduced a new flavor of durian and sweet potato.

The product exhibition at the expo targets 90,000 visitors with a sale of 3 million (SGD).

Malaysia Fest 2019 takes place on 25 to 28 July at Singapore Expo, Hall 6A from 10 am to 10 pm.
