KUALA LUMPUR –  Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd has spent RM1.1 billion in capital capex (CAPEX Works) within three years from 2016 to 2018.

State Water Services Commission chairman Charles Santiago said the expenditure was to repair and upgrade the water supply system in line with the company’s goal of improving customer service.

“For six months until June 2019, RM196 million was spent for the same purpose (refurbishing and upgrading the water supply system),” said Charles.

“Air Selangor also plans a 30-year planning plan with a CAPEX plan of RM30 billion,” he said in a press conference at the Parliament lobby, yesterday.

Charles said the results of the Air Selangor improvements saw unscheduled water supply disruption for every 100 kilometers reduced from 20 cases, in 2016 to 18 cases in 2017 and 13 cases, in 2018.

He said the replacement of key equipment that could potentially affect the operation of Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant Phase 1 (LRA SSP1) could ensure the sustainability of clean water supply for a minimum period of five years.

The 12-hour LRA SSP1 improvement work from 9am to 9pm on Tuesday, involving 758,570 consumer accounts in 758 areas, will be subject to 84 hours of scheduled water disruption.

All users in the seven affected areas, Klang, Petaling, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Langat, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor are advised to keep their water supply sufficiently.
