SHAH ALAM, Feb 11 — Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) has pledged zero-tolerance against corruption in order to strengthen the company’s governance based on integrity and ethical work culture.

Its corporate communication chief Abdul Halem Mat Som said the declaration was made on February 4 through Air Selangor’s work policy, which includes teamwork, sincerity, professionalism and excellent service.

“Among the preliminary steps taken to manifest the pledge were by implementing no prize-giving policy, declarations of conflicts of interest and procurement of integrity agreements and non-alliance guidelines,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The pledge ceremony was held at Air Selangor headquarters, witnessed by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) Education Department director Razim Mohd Noor and Air Selangor senior management personnel.

Meanwhile, Air Selangor chief executive officer Suhaimi Kamaralzaman said his team should adhere to the pledge to avoid receiving or giving any form of bribery.

Suhaimi added that other employees in Air Selangor would take part in the corruption-free pledge for the next three months starting February.

According to the new provisions under Section 17 of the MACC Act 2009, every entity registered under the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) had to take its own initiatives in fighting against corruption.
