Bridging the digital divide towards Smart State 2025

By Afix Redzuan

BESTARI JAYA, Feb 19 — The Selangor government is working on bridging the digital gap in students between the urban and rural areas in achieving the smart state vision by 2025.

In collaboration with Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor (Kuis), Universiti Selangor (Unisel) had organised the ICT Boot camp (ICTBC) Selangor 2019 to provide a platform on information technology and industrial revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0).

“We provide direct grants direct to Unisel and Kuis to organise the ICT Boot Camp 2019 to give exposure to high school students in rural areas on information technology.

“We would then be able to work on the development of human capital in technology-based industries as well as closing the digital gap,” said Fazlina Hashim, the secretary of the Information Management Division of the Selangor State Secretary Office.

She said the state government has allocated RM200,000 grant to organise the camp involving six schools from the Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernama and Hulu Selangor districts.

Earlier, Fazlina had attended the opening and closing ceremony of the Final Project Exhibition by students of Unisel’s Visual Arts Faculty.

Also present was Unisel’s vice president and deputy vice-chancellor (Administration, Planning and Global Engagement) Prof Dr Mohd Nor Nawawi.
