JAKARTA, March 6 — Indonesia will impose a temporary restriction on all tourists who were or have been to certain cities or regions in Italy, South Korea and Iran in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said the restriction involved the provinces of Lombardy, Marche, Emilia Romagna, Veneto, and Piedmont in Italy; Daegu and Gyeongsan in South Korea, and Tehran, Gilan, and Qom in Iran.
“The restriction will take effect on March 8, and will be on a temporary basis and monitored according to current developments,” she said in a statement yesterday.
On March 2, Indonesia, a nation with a population of 270 million, was also included in the list of nations with Covid-19 cases after two of its citizens from Depok, near Jakarta, tested positive for the virus.
