Selangor govt ensures enough food supply for Hulu Langat residents

SHAH ALAM, March 30 — The Selangor government, with the cooperation of the Federal administration, will ensure there would be enough food supply for the residents in Hulu Langat that are under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

Its Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that the distribution of food supply in the affected areas would be coordinated by the Selangor National Security Council.

“I was informed by Dr Adham Baba on the EMCO implemented involving areas of Batu 21 to Batu 24 in Sungai Lui. The authorities will provide enough basic necessities to the residents during that period,” he said on his official Twitter account, last night, referring to the Health Minister.

“The state government will ensure that the enforced EMCO run smoothly, including the distribution of food supply to the areas involved.”

The Federal government had yesterday announced the lockdown of seven villages in Hulu Langat effective from March 30 (today) to April 13.

This was following the 71 positive Covid-19 cases identified among 274 residents of the Maahad Tahfiz AnNabawiyyah school at Batu 23.

The Hulu Langat district is the second area after Simpang Renggam, which had been ordered under the EMCO, following the spike in Covid-19 cases in a specific location.

During the two-week EMCO, all entry points into the area are barred and visitors and non-residents are not allowed into the area.

All business activities are suspended until the order period ends.
