Active Covid-19 cases drop, red zones now in only three Selangor townships

SHAH ALAM, April 18 — The number of townships in Selangor categorised as a red zone has dropped further to three locations, based on the active Covid-19 cases recorded in the state.

The state had also seen a drop in daily recorded cases for three days in a row — 9 cases yesterday, 13 on Thursday and 17 on Wednesday.

According to the infographic shared by the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) on Twitter last night, Selangor has 448 active cases registered out of the accumulated 1,338 cases.

The death toll in Selangor stands at 12, and total recovery of 878 cases.

Based on the active Covid-19 cases recorded, the three townships classified as a red zone include Hulu Langat with 69 cases, Klang (53), and Damansara (46).

Sungai Buluh and Petaling, which registered 55 and 47 respectively on Thursday, are no longer in the red zone as the number of active cases has dropped below 41 yesterday.

“Selangor has three townships that are categorised as red zones out of the total 56, today (yesterday).

“Identify your areas, refer to the infographic and hope this will motivate you to abide by the movement control order,” the task force said.

Meanwhile, four Selangor districts that are still grouped as red zones include Petaling with 134 active cases, Hulu Langat (133), Klang (78), and Gombak (51).

Other two districts previously classified as red zones are Sepang and Hulu Selangor, which now has 23 and 10 active Covid-19 cases respectively.

The Health Ministry had set the red zone category for areas with at least 41 accumulated confirmed Covid-19 cases; orange zone (20-40 cases); yellow zone (1-19 cases); and green zone (no case).
