SHAH ALAM, April 7 — Selangor will make a decision in May on the contract of its coaches for the Malaysia Games (Sukma), says the Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS).
Its executive director Adi Faizal Ahmad Tarmizi said many of them will have their contracts end in July and the sports council will need to review their status following the postponement of the biennial event.
“We have 70 contract coaches. There is no issue for those whose contracts are until the end of the year.
“But for those with contracts ending in July, we will have to review whether we will be extending it,” he said.
Adi Faizal said although the Sukma 2020 has been postponed, the payment of the monthly allowance of the couches has to continue.
On March 25, the Sukma Supreme Council had unanimously postponed the games due to the Covid-19 pandemic,
The sporting event was scheduled to be held from July 11 to 19 in Johor and the Para Sukma 2020 from August 16 to 22.
Selangor had previously aimed to bring home 45 gold, 40 silver, and 40 bronze medals.
