KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 — The public is now allowed to travel together in twos to buy daily necessities or seek medical services during the ongoing movement control order (MCO), The Malaysian Insight reported today.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba had confirmed the matter with the English portal via text message.
The report cited the latest Federal gazette on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988, signed by Dr Adham and dated April 28.
Under “conditions for movement”, the gazette, which now permits a person to go out and accompanied by one family member from the same household to buy necessities, takes effect today until May 12.
For those who are required to travel to seek healthcare services may be accompanied by another who is not necessarily family.
“His movement shall only be to a place within a radius of not more than 10 kilometres from his residence, or to a place nearest to his residence if such healthcare or medical services are not available within the 10 kilometres radius.
“He may be accompanied by any other person as may be reasonably necessary” the gazette read.
For those travelling to perform an official duty, provide essential services or procure any essential services that are not listed in the gazette are required to produce an authorisation letter to the officials on duty.
Malaysia has today entered the fourth phase of the MCO which is in force until May 12
