SHAH ALAM, April 17 — The number of townships and districts in Selangor that are categorised as a red zone has dropped following the increase of Covid-19 recoveries.

The state had also seen a drop in daily recorded cases for two consecutive days — 13 cases yesterday and 17 cases on Wednesday.

According to the infographic shared by the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) on Twitter last night, Selangor now has 498 active cases registered out of the accumulated 1,329 cases.

Based on the active Covid-19 cases recorded, only five townships and four districts are currently categorised as a red zone.

“This is good news! Only five townships are now considered red zones.

“Now we get to see the data of how many recoveries are registered in the townships,” the task force said.

The five townships that registered 41 and above active cases are Hulu Langat (67), Damansara (56), Sungai Buluh (55), Klang (52), and Petaling (47).

The townships that are no longer grouped as a red zone are Kapar with 25 active cases, Dengkil (21), Kajang (28), Hulu Kelang (21), Batu (19), Ampang (18) and Cheras (7).

Meanwhile, the four districts in the red zones include Petaling with 173 active cases, Hulu Langat (131), Klang (77), and Gombak (57).

Other two districts previously classified as red zones are Sepang and Hulu Selangor, which now has 30 and 11 active Covid-19 cases respectively.

Previously, the districts and townships were classified a red zone according to the cumulative cases recorded in each particular area.

The Health Ministry had set the red zone category for areas with at least 41 Covid-19 positive cases; orange zone (20-40 cases); yellow zone (1-19 cases); and green zone (no case).
