Selangor expands recipients of RM500 incentive for hawkers, traders

By Ashwin Kumar

SHAH ALAM, April 15 — The scope for eligible recipients of the one-off RM500 incentive allocated for hawkers and petty traders in Selangor has been expanded.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the extension includes licenses enforced under the licensing by-laws of the local governments, namely the Licensing of Trades, Businesses and Industries By-Law, Market By-Law, and Food Establishment Licensing By-Law.

He said the application deadline had also been extended to June 7 from the initial May 7.

“The state administration has agreed to extend the initiative to all licensed traders who are renting at the premises under the Selangor local authorities and categorised as farmers market (pasar tani), kiosks, food courts and local markets.

“The decision was made after taking into consideration the current developments,” he said in a statement today, adding that the incentive is only valid for traders and hawkers with licenses or permits approved by the local before March 20.

The online application for the incentive, which is part of the state economic stimulus package, started on April 8, at www.selangorprihatin.com.

Meanwhile, Amirudin had also reminded the people to continuously practice personal hygiene and always wash their hands with soap or use the sanitisers.

“Please exercise the social distancing rule and comply to the third phase of MCO, which begins today,” he added.
