SHAH ALAM, April 17 — The Selangor state administrative staff working in the frontline were screened for Covid-19 today, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Selangor Menteri Besar said the screening exercise was held at the state secretariat building (SUK), here, to ensure that the workers are free from Covid-19 infection.

“There are 17 quarantine centres in Selangor where many of the district officers and staff of local authorities are stationed at.

“Therefore, we took their samples to make sure they have not been infected by the virus,” he told a press conference here today.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said to date, a total of 3,000 Malaysians who have returned from overseas are quarantined in the centres located in the state.

He added that the state government will also continue to carry out the Covid-19 community screening in several identified areas.

The large-scale testing, which began on April 11 and 12 in Hulu Langat, found four out of the five confirmed Covid-19 cases to be asymptomatic.

A total of 649 residents were screened during the door-to-door screening exercise.
