SHAH ALAM, April 17 — Water supply in several areas across the Klang Valley has been 27 per cent restored as of 1pm today.
Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) Corporate Communications Department head Abdul Halem Mat Som said the remaining areas in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Selangor and Kuala Langat were yet to be fully restored.
“Air Selangor has taken proactive actions to minimise the impact on the consumers, which include mobilising water tank trucks to the affected areas.
“We would like to remind the public to give their full cooperation by practising the 1-meter social distancing rule, as recommended by the Health Ministry, when collecting the water from the tankers,” he said in a statement today.
The water supply in several areas in the Klang Valley was disrupted due to the shut down of four water treatments last night after odour pollution was detected at the raw water source in Sungai Selangor.
The water treatment plants in Sungai Selangor (LRA), Phase 1 (SSP1), Phase 2 (SSP2), Phase 3 (SSP3) and Rantau Panjang were forced to cease operations at 11pm to flush out the contaminated water downstream of Sungai Selangor.
Earlier, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said fish breeding ponds were found to have been the source of the pollution.
