Active Covid-19 cases drop in Petaling district, now a yellow zone

SHAH ALAM, May 4 — The Petaling district is now classified a yellow zone as the number of active Covid-19 cases has dropped to 39 as of noon yesterday.

On Saturday, the district entered the red zone for one day due to the rise in five new cases, where Selangor had seen a surge of 63 daily cases.

According to the data provided by the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre of the Selangor State Health Department, the state recorded 11 new cases on Sunday, bringing the total tally to 1,529.

The state registered 217 active Covid-19 cases with infectivity and the death toll remains at 18.

The Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) said the Hujung Permatang township under Kuala Selangor is now categorised as a yellow zone due to two new cases reported yesterday.

“We hope people are aware that Selangor has implemented the modified conditional movement control order (MCMCO), where some changes were made to allow an organised structure to be formed.

“This means the MCO is still ongoing and everyone has to adhere to the social distance ruling and observe good hygiene. Do not be complacent and make this part of your new daily routine,” the task force said on Facebook last night.

Selangor has two districts classified as a red zone, which are Gombak and Hulu Langat, with 87 and 48 active cases respectively.

Yesterday, the number of positive Covid-19 cases reported daily in Malaysia rose by 17 to 122 cases, bringing the cumulative total in the country to 6,298.

Out of the new cases, 52 were imported while 70 were from local infections.
