Dr Dzulkefly: Follow SOP, practise new normal

By Wan Faizal Ismayatim

SHAH ALAM, May 13 — The people of Selangor are reminded to not take the current situation for granted after the country has recorded the lowest daily Covid-19 figure yesterday since the movement control order (MCO) was imposed on March 18, says Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

The Selangor Task for Covid-19 (STFC) chairman said the people should not return back to their normal activities and should adopt the new practices in their daily routine.

He said it is important for the public to follow the guidelines that were set by the state government following the extension of the conditional movement control order (MCMO) starting today.

“This is to ensure that the state administration would not have to take drastic action such as restricting movement when a new cluster of the infection appears,” he said on a Facebook post today.

Dr Dzulkefly said such restrictions can take place or the MCO could be reintroduced if the people are negligent and do not abide by the standard operating procedures (SOPs) that has been outlined by the government.

Yesterday, Malaysia recorded 16 new positive coronavirus cases, which was the lowest in the last two months. Selangor had also recorded no red zones across its 56 townships according to the active cases registered.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had also yesterday announced that the food and beverages outlets in the state can fully operate from 7am to 10pm and accept dine-in customers with the social distancing rule in place, beginning today.

The state government had also allowed public parks to reopen, but restrictions are still imposed on hiking and camping activities.
