MB: Focus on maintaining stability, helping people impacted by Covid-19

SHAH ALAM, July 28 — Selangor stays focused on strengthening and stabilising its administration to ensure the economic impact on the people due to Covid-19 could be reversed via the implementation of the third phase of the state’s economic recovery plan.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is confident the plan can be implemented with the full cooperation of the civil servants, as the state government has proven its success in overcoming the pandemic through its screening initiative despite restrictions posed by the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at several of its districts.

“I have said repeatedly, that other administrators, including the state executive councillors, state secretary and state financial officer, and I as the head of the state administration, will continue to maintain stability as it is the main element needed to ensure Selangor survives the Covid-19 attack and overcome its impact (economic).

“Thankfully we did not get into a fight or war with issues or have cases due to differing political stands, that has led to state’s destruction and instability, as seen in several places, yet we are still faced with other challenges such as the economic impact which must be addressed.

“The state government in the recent State Legislative Assembly sitting has proven its openness and gentleman nature, when we tabled and became the first state in Malaysia to present an economic cycle focused multi-billion ringgit economic recovery plan,” said Amirudin at the launching of the state-level 2020 National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign at the Dewan Jubli Perak of the State Secretariat building here today.

Recently Amirudin had tabled an economic recovery plan focused on three main thrusts which are food security, economic resilience and capacity building.

The total value of the economic plan is RM55.85 billion. As of now a total of RM260.14 million has been spent to benefit the Selangor people.
