State exco candidates’ names presented to Sultan of Selangor – MB

SHAH ALAM, July 13 — The state government has presented names to fill up two vacant seats in the state executive council to the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said they are now waiting for the Sultan’s consent on the date of the swearing-in.

“The Selangor Palace will set the suitable date for the swearing-in and once given the consent, the state government will make the announcement.

“We have protocol and ceremony that must be followed by all parties, so we will wait for the right time,” said Amirudin after tabling the state economic recovery plan during the State Legislative Assembly sitting here today.

On March 5, the state government disassociated itself from the Bersatu party after taking into consideration the political dynamic at the Federal level.

This led to the removal of the Selat Klang state assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari from his post as state executive councillor on Tourism, Culture, Malay Customs and Heritage.

On Friday, Amirudin announced that he has taken over the Housing and Urban Living portfolio after it was vacated by the Lembah Jaya state assemblywoman Haniza Talha.

The committee’s chair became empty after the PKR Disciplinary Committee recommended Haniza’s expulsion at the party’s monthly meeting on June 28.
